welcome to my glass world

Mistakes can be good

Almost a year ago I was attempting to make glass that looked like the bark of a tree.  I was feeling pretty good about myself thinking I had it all figured out.  The morning after firing it I excitedly went to the kiln to see my creation.  I was very disappointed when I realized I had over-fired.

Once the crushing blow of failure started to subside, I realized that what I was holding in my hand was actually pretty cool looking, but I had no idea what to do with it.   I set it aside knowing eventually I’d figure something out.

So, almost a year later I get an idea.  Yes, I am that slow.  I decide to cut it up and make pendants.   They turned out really well and I’m getting a lot of positive feedback.  Now if only someone would buy them.

There’s another piece of it that is going into some wall art.  I’ll post about that when I’m finished.  Even though I didn’t get the exact look I wanted, I’m still able to use it to represent the bark of a tree.
